Conspiracy, In Three Parts
by Phil Hurst

How does blowing up the bridge make him money?
++++That’s not our problem.
++++It doesn’t make sense.
++++He makes money out of everything.
++++But it’s the only bridge.
++++So?
++++So no one will be able to get in and out.
++++So?
++++So how will he make any money?
++++We don’t ask questions.
++++Remember when he paid us to blow up the train?
++++That was different.
++++We knew he’d rob it after.
++++We didn’t do the robbing though did we?
++++No.
++++So we don’t know he robbed it.
++++Well he said.
++++He paid us and we blew up a train.
++++So why a bridge?
++++Not our problem.
++++It is though.
++++I don’t ask questions like that. Neither should you.
++++Which side of the bridge are we going to be on?
++++That’s the other condition.
++++What is?
++++We stay on this side.
++++So we’re in town too?
++++Yes.
++++We should be on the other side.
++++And be the only explosive experts not in town?
++++Better than being the only ones in town.
++++They’ll know it was us anyway. After the train.
++++The train was fun.
++++Imagine how much fun a bridge will be.
++++What’s the compensation?
++++Fifteen.
++++Each?
++++Yes.
++++See now I don’t care what he does with it.
++++Good.
++++You got the kit?
++++I’ve got what’s left over from the train.
++++We’ll need more.
++++It’ll be enough.
++++Bridges are hard bastards.
++++Yeah, but it has to be done quick.
++++What’s the hurry?
++++I don’t know.
++++I don’t take risks.
++++You blow things up. Your whole life is a risk.
++++I’m not taking the risk if he’s not committed to quality.
++++What’s a quality bridge explosion?
++++One that results in an exploded bridge.
++++We’ve got enough stuff to do that.
++++If you say so.
++++So when?
++++Tonight.
++++That’s not long to prepare.
++++You’re very difficult today, you know.
++++I need to check everything.
++++Everything is fine.
++++Can we do tomorrow?
++++No.
++++Why not?
++++Tonight or nothing.
++++Why?

She’s leaving me.
++++Who is?
++++Who do you think?
++++For real this time?
++++She’s packed bags, hidden them under the porch.
++++The raccoons will get to them there.
++++I’m serious.
++++So am I. I hope she’s not packed any food.
++++I can’t let her leave me.
++++Talk to her.
++++She’s not in the house, not answering her phone.
++++Where is she?
++++Probably with him.
++++She’s got another man?
++++There’s always another man.
++++So why is she still in town?
++++I’ve got her stuff.
++++It’s probably another false alarm.
++++She’s going to take the kids.
++++No she won’t.
++++What if she doesn’t take the kids?
++++So no bridge stops her leaving.
++++I just need to talk to her.
++++And the money comes from you.
++++Yep.
++++Your share of the train job.
++++And some of the benefits office job.
++++You really think you can trap her here?
++++We just need some time.
++++Sounds like her mind’s made up.
++++It’s not you is it?
++++I’d tell you.
++++You wouldn’t.
++++It’s not me.
++++Are you going to help me?
++++A bridge is a difficult thing to blow up.
++++It’s the only way to keep her in town.
++++You’re not thinking logically.
++++Like what?
++++Is there an easier way?
++++Like what?
++++Like, maybe we find the other dude and talk to him.
++++I’d rather blow something up.
++++Why?
++++Send a message. People will know not to mess with me.
++++We can do that without blowing up a bridge.
++++I like blowing things up. I want to save my marriage.
++++Got it.
++++What?
++++What if we blow him up?
